What is an SSL Certificate?
SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer) stands for “Secure Sockets Layer” and is a digital security certificate that fulfills security requirements such as providing an encrypted connection with the user on a website and verifying the identity of the website. The SSL Certificate, like a sealed letter, ensures that the information shared with the website reaches only the servers of the relevant website without being intercepted by third parties. SSL Certificate prevents third parties from accessing important personal information such as name, address, telephone, e-mail, credit card or bank account information. The most important purpose of an SSL Certificate is to protect the confidentiality of data. However, some types of SSL Certificates are issued after authentication by Certificate Providers. Therefore, it also shows the reliability of the company and the website.
